Microbiology is a very advanced and latest form of educational subject included in the education arena. It includes study of various kinds of microorganism and their life cycle. It deals with the life and other metabolic activities of the microorganisms. Micro-organisms are almost found everywhere and they constitute by far the largest group of living things existing on earth. Amalgamation of biology and technology is biotechnology, a fast growing and evolving field in science. Biotechnology scenario in the world is changing rapidly and dynamically.

To prepare the students for this competitive field of science, to the curriculum and syllabi is crafted to impart current advancement and understanding about biotechnology along with basic knowledge about research and thus, provide about a substantial basic foundation of biotechnology in our students. The department constantly provides the latest developments in the fields of pharmaceutical, bio-pharmaceutical, and drug discovery sectors, healthcare, diagnostic and therapeutic, plant and animal sciences, and environmental sectors along with the core subjects.

This subject is primarily concerned with agriculture. In this course, students learn about plant biotechnology, one of the most recent technologies for making fertiliser. In addition to teaching scientific abilities, the course also educates how to market agricultural products. In this course, students are exposed to rural areas in real life so they can comprehend the issues that farmers and rural residents face and come up with solutions.

The department has well qualified teaching and non teaching staff, well equipped labs and a well established research field with in campus premises to provide practical training in different aspects to Agriculture students. A well-established Vermi compost unit for cultivation of organic farming. We have separate blocks for cultivation of some other crops like mustard, wheat, bearley, vegetables and flowers etc. Our main demonstration blocks contain more than 100+ species of different ornamental plants, most of the species of fruit plants from temperate and subtropical regions. Mushroom cultivation lab, Soil Testing facilities and collection of butterflies and other insects pests in Entomology lab are some attractions of the department.
